About Barbara Franklet
If Barbara Franklet had her way, every day of the week she’d dabble in a different artistic genre. From the abstract expression of Robert Rauschenberg to the sensitive illustrations of Maurice Sendak, she loves it all!!!! But, at the crux of it, there’s a simple passion for good design…..and maybe a little humour and fun.
Barbara mainly divides her time between oil pastels and mixed media work. Her oil pastels are rich and stylized. Previous work has been quite quirky and narrative, but lately she’s delved into contemporary landscapes. Drawing from her imagination, she creates lush patterned scenes focusing on palette and composition.
Tapping into her wackier side, Barbara loves to play with mixed media. Having more old books, photos and memorabilia than any one person needs, she loves the puzzle of putting random things together such that they make a cohesive piece. One of her most treasured “tools” is a primer stamp kit she bought from Ebay over twenty years ago. “If my house was on fire, that would be the one thing I would save!”
