Cultural Narratives is an exploration of the stories, cultures and narratives depicted in the works of Auckland-based contemporary NZ artists Sofia Minson, Fraser Williamson and Philippa Bentley.
The exhibition will explore how the narratives and cultures represented in the art works relate to each artist, as well as how these works and their narratives more widely share the story of NZ culture in 2022.
Each art work will include a brief description of it’s narrative and how it relates to the rest of the works exhibited, whilst also inviting the viewer to create their own narratives and meaning.
The aim of the exhibition is to represent New Zealand’s multiculturalism through the symbolism and stories that are expressed in the art works, which bring these cultures together.
