About Fraser Williamson
Fraser Williamson is a New Zealand born artist and illustrator. He resides in Auckland city where he works out of a small studio on the coastal North Shore where he was born and raised.
Fraser began his career at the Auckland University of Technology where he studied in the Graphic Arts department specialising eventually in illustration.
He has worked for a large number of publishers illustrating children’s books and a great variety of educational literature. He has been painting at the same time and has had a number of successful exhibitions with The Flagstaff Gallery in Devonport, Auckland.
His work is to do with dream and myth and each canvas contains strains of spiritual imagery and humour.
Going to the islands of Tonga, in the South Pacific was one of the biggest transitions in his life. He has a long & powerful association with the Hihifo district of Tongatapu. His wife Loisi comes from this district. Fraser and Loisi work together on children’s books. This combines Loisi’s talent for writing and Fraser’s illustration skills.
Fraser lives between New Zealand, Spain and Tonga which informs his work and his heart.
