About Helena Verhaaren
Born in Tilburg, Holland, Helena Verhaaren is a self-taught artist who largely works with oil pastel and gouache.
Tuscany and Provence are frequent destinations where Helena has found the people, countryside and villages wonderful to paint. The grandeur, starkness and natural beauty of the South Island of New Zealand, and the coastal contrasts of the bush and sea of the North Island are currently her inspiration and source of joy.
Having spent the large proportion of her time working in oil pastel and gouache, Helena is excited to be starting to explore a more new facet of her style, experimenting with colour, collage and abstraction.
