Sof Gill

Step into the vibrant, whimsical world of Sof Gill — a place where colour, movement, and emotion collide. Sof creates abstract works alive with rhythm, drawing inspiration from music and the people and places woven through her past. Her pieces — often crafted in acrylic and chalk pastel — feel like songs on canvas: bright, confident and full of energy. Influenced by jazz, rhythm and blues, disco, funk and soul, her art becomes a visual symphony of spontaneous shapes and expressive motifs. With a background in dance, Sof infuses each work with a sense of motion, joy and physicality.

Alongside her abstract paintings, Sof creates thoughtful, quirky digital illustrations, shared on her social platform @sofgillustrations. These simple yet expressive drawings capture moments of everyday life with warmth, insight and a touch of humour — small windows into her personality and perspective.

Sof graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Auckland University of Technology in 2018. She continues to pursue her passion for creating art that uplifts, inspires and sparks joy, working from her home in Auckland.
